What qualifies for correction
We review claims involving names, titles, tickers, dates, figures, quotations, transaction terms, technical results, regulatory status and other verifiable facts. Differences of opinion or interpretation are not treated as factual errors unless the underlying facts were misstated.
How we review a request
The disputed passage is compared with the original source and, when useful, additional authoritative records. We may contact the source or subject for clarification, but paid relationships do not determine whether a correction is accepted.
How changes are shown
Minor typographical fixes that do not change meaning may be corrected silently. Material factual corrections or substantive updates may receive an updated note or modified date. The original publication date is not replaced merely to make an older article appear fresh.
Sponsored stories follow the same factual standard
Paid news-dissemination coverage can be corrected in the same way as independent editorial. Compensation does not override the obligation to accurately represent the underlying source or disclose the commercial relationship.
