  • Copper Quest completed five Rip holes totalling 1,654 metres and a 20 km² IP survey at Stars, while postponing Rip sample preparation and assays during option-agreement negotiations.
  • Copper Quest Exploration completed 1,654 metres in five holes during Phase 2 drilling at the Rip copper-molybdenum project in British Columbia. The samples were sent to ALS in Terrace for storage, but the company said it does not plan to complete sample preparation and assaying until negotiations over the Rip option agreement are concluded.

The development

Copper Quest Exploration completed 1,654 metres in five holes during Phase 2 drilling at the Rip copper-molybdenum project in British Columbia. The samples were sent to ALS in Terrace for storage, but the company said it does not plan to complete sample preparation and assaying until negotiations over the Rip option agreement are concluded.

Copper Quest currently has an option to earn up to 80% of Rip under a November 2023 agreement with ArcWest Exploration. The parties began amendment discussions in June 2026, creating a contractual dependency between completed technical work and the timing of assay disclosure.

At the wholly owned Stars property, the company completed a 20-square-kilometre 3D induced-polarization survey across the Tana discovery area and its extensions. Copper Quest is waiting for the final interpretation before defining the next round of targets.

The company also reported permitting work at Alpine and Kitimat, plans to begin permitting at Thane, and the transfer of its Auxer and Nekash properties into a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary. Those activities broaden the corporate update, but they sit at different levels of technical readiness.

The central issue is sequencing. Rip has fresh drill core without assays, Stars has a completed geophysical survey without final interpretation, and several other properties are in permitting or restructuring. Clear resolution of the Rip agreement would allow the company to convert completed drilling into usable geological information.

Why this matters

The five completed Rip holes represent sunk technical work that could materially refine the target once assays are released.

The Stars survey provides district-scale coverage of the main magnetic anomaly and could generate new drill targets beyond Tana.

Industry and company context

Rip is a road-accessible porphyry copper-molybdenum project in British Columbia’s Bulkley Porphyry Belt.

Copper Quest’s broader portfolio spans eight projects and almost 50,000 hectares across Canada and the United States.

How to evaluate the update

The quality of the Rip program cannot be assessed from metreage alone; assay results and geological sections are required.

At Stars, the value of the large IP survey will depend on whether interpretation produces focused, drillable targets rather than a broad anomaly map.

Execution and risk considerations

Option negotiations could delay or change Copper Quest’s economic interest in Rip.

Deferring assays postpones technical learning and may leave investors without a clear timetable for evaluating completed drilling.

What to watch next

  • Resolution of the Rip option-amendment negotiations.
  • Preparation and assay timing for the five Rip holes.
  • Final 3D IP interpretation and target ranking at Stars.

Cornerstone perspective

Copper Quest completed meaningful field work, but much of the value remains locked behind pending agreements, assays and interpretations.

A credible next update should convert at least one of those pending items into a dated, decision-ready result.
