- Orosur began the first drill campaign at El Cedro, expanded the Anzá project footprint to approximately 530 km² and reported new results from Pepas West and APTA.
- Orosur Mining said the first-ever drilling program at El Cedro began in late August, adding a new porphyry-scale test to its work at the Anzá gold project in Colombia. The initial hole, CED001, is planned to reach roughly 500 metres and was expected to take about five weeks to complete.
- The company reported that the hole intersected a porphyry intrusion early in the program, with stockwork veining, silicification and potassic alteration observed in core. Those features can support a porphyry exploration model, but they are geological indicators rather than assay confirmation of economic copper or gold mineralization.
The development
Orosur Mining said the first-ever drilling program at El Cedro began in late August, adding a new porphyry-scale test to its work at the Anzá gold project in Colombia. The initial hole, CED001, is planned to reach roughly 500 metres and was expected to take about five weeks to complete.
The company reported that the hole intersected a porphyry intrusion early in the program, with stockwork veining, silicification and potassic alteration observed in core. Those features can support a porphyry exploration model, but they are geological indicators rather than assay confirmation of economic copper or gold mineralization.
Orosur also expanded Anzá to approximately 530 square kilometres, consisting of about 170 square kilometres of granted titles and 360 square kilometres under application. The distinction matters because applications do not carry the same tenure certainty as granted mineral titles.
At Pepas West, PEP106 returned a reported down-hole interval of 19.45 metres grading 1.02 g/t gold from surface, including two shorter intervals above 3 g/t. At APTA, MAP108 returned 78.95 metres grading 0.38 g/t gold from 134.8 metres. Orosur said true thicknesses for the reported intersections are not yet known.
The update broadens Anzá from a Pepas-centred resource story into a multi-target program spanning Pepas, APTA and El Cedro. The near-term test is whether El Cedro assays validate the alteration seen in CED001 while follow-up work converts the Pepas West geometry into a coherent mineralized zone.
Why this matters
El Cedro gives Orosur its first direct drill test of a gold-copper porphyry target within the broader Anzá land package.
The larger footprint creates more exploration optionality, while also increasing the amount of ground that must be prioritized and funded.
Industry and company context
Anzá lies in Colombia’s Mid-Cauca gold belt and is now wholly controlled through Orosur’s Colombian subsidiaries.
Pepas already has a maiden mineral resource, while APTA has seen approximately 40,000 metres of historical and current drilling.
How to evaluate the update
The first El Cedro core descriptions are encouraging for target validation, but grade, width and continuity will depend on assays and additional holes.
Pepas West should be judged on whether more drilling establishes true thickness and lateral continuity beyond isolated down-hole intervals.
Execution and risk considerations
Alteration and stockwork veining do not guarantee economic mineralization.
A large portion of the expanded project area remains under application, and exploration across a wider portfolio can increase capital and permitting demands.
What to watch next
- Assays from El Cedro hole CED001.
- Follow-up drilling around Pepas West.
- Progress on the 360 km² of new licence applications.
Cornerstone perspective
Orosur is creating multiple ways for Anzá to grow, but each target is at a different stage and should not be valued as if it has the same geological confidence.
El Cedro becomes the most important new catalyst because the first assays will test whether the observed porphyry-style alteration carries meaningful copper and gold grades.
